Interview with Mishka Patel, Juiced Co Ambassador

We are delighted that Mishka Patel, one of our most well-known South African models and TV Presenters, is part of the Juiced Co family by being one of our Ambassadors.

With hard work, motivation, clear goals and a drive for success, Mishka is recognised not only as a television presenter and model but as a motivational speaker, emcee, health and fitness enthusiast and business owner.

Juicing is very much part of Mishka’s daily routine; whether it be cleansing or simply as a meal replacement and the team at Juiced Co are honoured to have her on board as our Brand Ambassador.

We receive questions on a daily basis regarding juicing, including items in one’s daily routine, as well as the cleansing process. With this in mind, we compiled some questions for our avid juicer, Mishka, to share her experiences and advice.

Why is juice cleansing such a big part of your life?

It’s about how it makes me feel in my mind, my body and soul. It’s about how I feel during, as well as after the juice cleanse that’s gotten me hooked.

Currently, how often would you say you cleanse and is there any specific juicing regime that you follow?

I drink one juice or smoothie a day, sometimes as a meal replacement, and I’ll go on a cleanse once every 2nd or 3rd month. It’s all dependent on when my body needs it. If I could, I’d cleanse once a month.

What’s your advice for people wanting to boost their health and aim for a healthier lifestyle?

Incorporate a juice a day. You literally get a mixture of different fruits and vegetables to keep your energy up and body healthy! One juice a day is what I’d suggest.

Are you able to exercise while on a juice cleanse?

Absolutely. I love training, especially while juicing. I have done a 7-day cleanse while doing a 30-day fitness challenge. I never struggled with energy or fatigue, but to each their own. For some it might be harder than for others. I do suggest training while juicing, perhaps ease into it at first.

What advice would you give to someone who is new to juicing?

If you don’t try, you won’t know. It’s such a life-changer! Eating well is a form of self-respect in my opinion, and since incorporating juice into my daily routine, focusing on what I feed my body and doing a cleanse every once in a while, I am healthier than I have ever been.

There are so many explanations on the benefits of juicing and what it does for your mind body and soul. Can you give us a more personal insight on the benefits of juicing that you experience?

Clarity. I always feel focused and determined during a cleanse. A healthier and happier life starts from the inside out, so whenever I feel drained, tired or if I experience a lot of migraines, I know it’s time for a cleanse.

During your cleanse do you feel hungry or experience any cravings? 

Sometimes I do yes, but I always remain focused on the mission.

From your experience does juice cleansing aid in weight loss?

I have never done a juice cleanse for weight loss, but after each cleanse I have done before, I have always dropped a kg or 2. I have done a cleanse with a friend who’s lost 4kg while doing a 5-day cleanse, but she also trained hard during her cleanse, while another friend hadn’t lost any weight. I think it differs for everyone.

With a variety of flavoured juices to pick from which Juiced Co juice is an absolute must have for you?

I love the smoothies (especially berry nut!)! My favourite juices, however, has to be the Immunity, Shine, Happy, Recharge and Radiate!

Do you have any pre-juice cleanse advice?

Slow down with the coffee, processed foods and candy. A few days (about 5 days) before doing a cleanse, start preparing mentally and physically for what’s about to happen, rather than shocking your body. I’d say, start with drinking more water, drinking fewer cups of coffee and cutting out sugar, slowly but surely. It makes the cleanse easier.

What are some of the symptoms that can be expected during a cleansing program?

I personally experienced headaches. But that’s about it. I am not a coffee drinker, but I do drink about 4 cups of green tea a day. I also do not smoke, so it had to be my body not being used to ‘no green tea’. Some people do feel tired the first and second day, but it does get better!

Can a juice cleanse help break some bad dietary habits?

YES! I have heard some great success stories, even one including someone who stopped drinking alcohol after a juice cleanse, as well as someone who was so impressed, she stopped smoking, for good!

Would you recommend a 1-day, 3-day, 5-day, 7-day or 10-day cleanse?

All of the above. But for starters, people new to the juicing, start with a 3day cleanse. I personally haven’t tried a 1-day yet, but would love to just to see the results.
